I became a Warden in 1986, a Scheme Coordinator in the mid 90's and a Senior

Scheme Manager in the late 90's. My job titles mirror the constant changing role of our jobs!

I joined the NWA in May 1990 and have been a Committee Member for most of that

time holding various posts, my employers have encouraged and supported me during this period.

I obtained the certificate in Gerontology in 1990 and The National Wardens' Certificate, as it

was then known, in 1994, and was elected a Housing Practitioner by the CIH in 1996.

Fechin McCormick

Fechin has been a Scheme Manager in Manchester for 12 years and a NWA Committee member for over 3 years.

Last summer, Supporting People chose his scheme for Validation' and the 'exceptional' three 'A' and three 'B's

were described as 'miles and miles above the rest' within his local authority. He therefore brings insight and

experience to his post.

Outside his work he has been a competitive athlete for 30 years and for the past 10 has edited and produced

a 26-page quarterly magazine for Sale Harriers Manchester - the Manchester United of British athletics!

He is a member of its Executive Committee and away from running and work enjoys relaxing hours on his allotment!

He looks forward to continue making a contribution to the NWA as a committee member.
